Learning the Basics and Pre-Production in 3D

Do you want to transform your virtual idea into larger than life forms? If you answer to the affirmative then 3D modeling and animation is the right thing to do. The students learn the pre-production concepts such as story development, pre-visualization and storyboarding and then learn how to bring a real life look and how to add attributes to create a convincing 3D character. At the final stage of the program, students work in groups and within the group, individual students focus on the core skills they have acquired during the whole program. The show reel that the students create at the end of the course gives them an experience of the dynamics of the 3D animation course workflow.

The pre-production phase of the 3D animation course is when the story, concepts, characters, style, setting is brought into shape and the conceptualization takes place. It is just like guidelines to the whole project on how it is going to work and what will be the final output. Such guidelines are important so that the team can forsee the potential bottlenecks that might arise during the production process. The problems are assessed, keeping the mind all the stages starting from storyboarding, layouts, colors, model blueprint and the animated transitions.

The pre-production stage clearly defines the preliminary stage that will build foundation for the characters in animation, the scene and the style based on which the product will be designed in 3D. This basic understanding with the help of the guideline help in proper planning so that this are done in an organized manner for the later production stages. In this stage a proper blueprint of the product is created so as to set proportions, angles and placement of the objects involved in the 3D visualization.

The animation programs of institutes are organized for the students to nurture their skills in 3D and concept based on this technology. The workflow is carefully aligned to three stages- pre-production, production and post-production. Understanding of the pre-production workflow gives an advantage to the students who are entering this field. Reliance Education can show the right path towards building a career in 3D.
